Viking Backgammon p068. Parametric design: set the size and material thickness, then download a cutting file made for you (laser machine, co2 or diode).
A parametric version of my Viking backgammon (00285 / 00311). Set the size and options in the 3D studio and download laser cut files made exactly for your sheet.
The hand-drawn artwork is not just scaled. It is rebuilt for every size: the tree of life lid with its cut-out sky and engraved constellation, the Celtic rim, dragon points on the playing field, runes on the walls and knotwork corners. Hinge mounts are redrawn for every hinge, the dragon columns stay centred on the checker cradles, and the clasp notch follows the engraved border.
What you can change
- Length: 250–600 mm (default 495 mm)
- Width of one half: 150–320 mm (default 287 mm)
- Pockets for dice and checkers: on / off. Each half gets two trays where the checkers stand on edge and a dice insert in the middle.
- Checker diameter: 18–37 mm. The cradles on the board and the trays follow it.
- Dice size (d6): 10–22 mm, and the length of the dice pocket: 40–120 mm
- Hinges: 2–10
- Front clasp: on / off
- Magnet diameter: 3–8 mm
- Viking decor (engraving): on / off. Off gives a clean case without engraving.
- Engraved checkers: adds 30 engraved checker discs to the files
- Material thickness: 3–6.35 mm (3, 3.175, 3.6, 3.8, 4, 4.5, 5, 5.5, 6, 6.35 mm or your measured value). All joints are recalculated, so a file for 3 mm is exactly 3 mm.
Construction
- Internal stiffening ribs under the playing field keep the case flat and rigid.
- The playing field is a separate part, glued in.
- Wooden hinges and a magnetic clasp.
- Rounded tabs and notch mouths for an easy fit.
What you download
A ZIP with two SVG versions (kerf 0 and kerf 0.15 mm), a readme with the dimensions of your configuration, and the assembly instruction.
Default size at 3.8 mm: external 495 x 287 x 68 mm, internal 430 x 222 x 25 mm. Laser work area: at least 500 x 300 mm for the default size.
Magnets for the lock: four, diameter as set, 3–5 mm thick.
