Backgammon 00285. Digital files for manufacturing products on a laser machine (CO2 or diode laser).
This project represents a full month of non-stop work. It’s packed with intricate engraving and fine details. Every single element was hand-drawn—from the initial sketches to the final vector lines; every dot and stroke is intentional.
The board follows the standard playing field size of 430 x 230 mm (though this may vary slightly depending on material thickness). The checkers are 27 mm in diameter, and I recommend using 6–8 mm plywood for them.
Design & Construction
Despite its size, the construction is incredibly robust. The playing field is glued in separately, which means you can easily modify the project for any other game that fits this format. Additionally, I’ve included internal stiffening ribs between the cover and the playing field to prevent the structure from warping or twisting.
The Artwork
All graphics are original. The symbols are entirely my own creation and carry no specific meaning other than their aesthetic value.
Technical Requirements
Laser Work Area: Minimum 500 x 300 mm.
Assembly: There are over 100 parts, but the assembly is straightforward. Just be careful not to mix up the top and bottom sections, as there are subtle differences.
Note on Engraving: Due to the high level of detail, the engraving process is time-consuming.
external size:
length: 495mm / 19.48″
width: 287mm / 11.30″
height: 68mm / 2.67″
internal size:
length: 430mm / 16.92″
width: 222mm / 8.74″
height: 25mm / 0.98″
For a magnetic lock, you need 2 magints with a diameter of 5mm. The thickness of the magnet must not exceed the thickness of the material. The diameter of the magnets can be corrected in any vector editor (for example, free inkscape).
kerf (cut compensation): 0.15mm and 0
design available for plywood thickness: 3mm, 1/8inch (3.175mm), 3.6mm, 3.8mm, 4mm, 5mm, I haven’t tackled other thicknesses yet, but I can add more upon request.
digital product includes: CDR, SVG, PDF, AI
ATTENTION! This is not a physical product, these are digital files for manufacturing products on a CNC laser machine. While using this file, you can create finished product for own or commercial use. Resale of digital files and their distribution is prohibited.
