Backgammon 00311. Digital files for manufacturing products on a laser machine (co2 or diode).
Backgammon 00311 is the pocket version of my Viking backgammon 00285. Same hand-drawn artwork, now with built-in storage: along the front of each half there are two trays where the checkers stand on edge, and a dice insert between them. Everything you need for the game stays inside the closed case.
The Artwork
Every element was drawn by hand, from the first sketches to the final vector lines. The lid shows a tree of life with a cut-out sky over an engraved constellation, framed by a Celtic rim. Dragon points on the board, rune-carved walls, knotwork corners and a magnetic clasp. The symbols are my own creation and carry no specific meaning.
Design & Construction
- Internal stiffening ribs between the cover and the playing field keep the case flat and rigid.
- The playing field is glued in separately, so the project can be adapted to other games of this format.
- Wooden hinges and a magnetic clasp.
- Checker trays and a dice insert in both halves.
- Playing field approx. 435 x 200 mm.
- Checkers: 27 mm in diameter, 6–8 mm plywood recommended.

Technical Requirements
- Laser work area: minimum 500 x 300 mm.
- About 160 parts. A step-by-step assembly instruction (PDF) is included. Do not mix up the top and bottom halves: they differ slightly.
- The engraving is very detailed and takes time.
- Magnetic lock: four magnets, 5 mm diameter, 3–5 mm thick.
- Kerf: 0.15 mm and 0.
- Thicknesses: 3 mm, 1/8" (3.175 mm), 3.6 mm, 3.8 mm, 4 mm, 4.5 mm, 5 mm.
